As someone who is always up before 6am, here are some tips that might be useful in helping you get up early in the morning!
1. Slowly adjusting to waking up at an earlier time.
If you’re trying to get to waking up at an earlier time, try to set your alarm 15min earlier for a few days, then another 15min earlier for a few more days, and repeat the cycle until you get to your desired time.
2. Set your alarm at the same time everyday.
Our body likes consistency.
Once you’ve done the above and gotten adjusted to your desired time, set the alarm to ring at the same time everyday so that your body will grow accustomed to this routine.
3. Set a “wind down time” before bed.
This means no screen time for a stipulated period before bed- for myself it is half an hour, where I wind down by reading a book.
4. Know when your caffeine cut off point is.
For some, they can’t take caffeine after 12 noon if not it’ll interfere with their sleep. Know what time your caffeine cut off point is, so that it doesn’t hinder you from falling asleep at bedtime!
5. Know your Why
What is the reason you’re planning to wake up earlier? Is it more time to exercise and having more time for your morning routine? Knowing the reason why you want to do something would motivate you to keep at it!
