Start your day with breakfast to fuel yourself before the day ahead!
Then head for dance class.
Operating since 1979, Pineapple Dance Studios has been a stable fixture on Langley Street, offering over 400 open classes weekly, in more than 40 different styles, in varying dance levels. So you will definitely find something suitable for you!
I’ve previously tried their ballet classes. This trip, I decided to go for their musical theatre class!
Changing rooms and toilets are in the basement floor. Showers are provided as well , for those that need to freshen up before the rest of their day.
The instructor was super energetic and class was very fun as everyone was very hyped up and ready to dance. We danced to a song from Wicked, and in keeping with the theme, the teacher turned the lights to green as well ! If you’re feeling particularly energetic, you could go for more than one class. Booking the class is very easy as it is all done on their Pineapple Studios App.
You could walk around the shops around Covent Garden before heading to the next destination- Royal Ballet and Opera House!
I booked a behind the scenes tour for 20 pounds— but it was definitely worth every cent. Not only did I get to go backstage, watch how they change sets, and walk through where they keep their costumes. I even got to catch a few minutes of two of the principal dancers rehearse for the upcoming production. This was definitely the highlight of the tour. I was also in awe of how structured and well designed the whole infrastructure was for holding so many productions. They are able to change sets in as short as 90 seconds, which is incredibly fast, because their sets are so big and heavy !
I was definitely starstruck when I saw the dancers in real life—- having dreamed of this moment many many times since I was a young aspiring ballerina.
They have various other tours available as well. For example, they have an upcoming tour for behind the scenes for Cinderella, where the tour guide promises that it goes into great detail of the sets, costumes, and behind the scenes of Cinderella. Other tours I saw on the website included a tour with afternoon tea, or you could even email in to organise a private tour as well. The tour guide mentioned that people have organised private tours to propose to their partners in the Royal Box in the theatre as well, definitely a proposal to remember.
Once you end your tour, you get 10% off the cafe as well as the gift shop , so you can end your day with a leisurely cup of coffee or tea, and some souvenirs to remember your day by.
Let me know if you’re inspired to follow the same itinerary as well!
