What does Rest mean to you?
Rest can look different to everyone.
It is important to figure out what rest means to you!
Does it mean a walk in the park, spending time with friends and family, being able to explore a new activity, or engage in your favourite hobby?
For some, they may feel that they are not able to fully rest unless they are travelling, where they can be unplugged from the corporate grind. This is as due to the nature of their work, they may be expected to be by the phone all the time, except when they are out of the country.
For others, myself included, it may just require being physically out of the work environment to constitute rest.
Here are some types of rest:
Emotional Rest
Emotional exhaustion is often most neglected. Many find themselves not only managing their own emotions, but also that of people around them.
How can you practice emotional rest?
Set boundaries- with friends, family and work.
Find an outlet– Journaling is very useful, or you can try an online journaling resource /place to brain dump like Gracefullyy, or just make an appointment to hang out with a friend.
Creative Rest:
If your day job is not within the creative realm, you might want to try to explore being creative during your rest time.
Some ideas include cooking, visiting museums, being in nature.
You can try cooking with simple recipes– like noobcook.com, or create your own recipes with ingredients you already have at Clear the Fridge.
Or you could try a new walking route at a park that may not be your usual go-to park.
Spiritual Rest:
Mornings for myself always begin with reading the Bible, and prayer. This helps me to remember that God’s word is important and that all that I do in the day, is for His glory and not my own. It is important to carve out some time to remember what is important!
Hope that this would help you to reflect on the types on rest and how you are able to incorporate this into your daily life!
