We are all busy people, each person with varying commitments and responsibilities.

I’ve never met anyone (yet) who has said they’re super free. However, if you want to incorporate fitness into your lifestyle, here are some strategies:

1. Schedule workouts like appointments.

You know how you schedule your personal and work appointments into your Apple/ Google calendar? Block off time in your schedule as a non-negotiable appointment just like you would for a meeting.

2. Have options to do a quick workout.

Find a workout that fits your schedule. It could be 30mins, or even 15 minutes. Some movement is better than no workout at all, and there are many options to do so! See my article on suggested workout resources: that you can do online in your own time.

3.Prioritise exercise.

Recognise that looking after yourself is a way of being a good steward of your body and it is being responsible for your health as well. Hence, it is important to engage in regular exercise.

4.Set realistic goals.

I too have been guilty of being too ambitious about my goals -ie. trying to fit in more exercise than I feasibly can in a week, then being disappointed in myself after that for not hitting a goal. Would then subsequently be less motivated to get back on track as I feel that I have “already failed”. Instead of being caught in this vicious cycle, set realistic goals on how much exercise you can fit in in your busy schedule, slowly build up the intensity and duration (if possible),  and don’t beat yourself up if you’re unable to do so !

5.Consistency

Even small amounts of exercise each time will eventually add up to a lot. Staying consistent helps you to remember that exercise is an important part of your routine and helps you make progress towards your goals.
